Scramble For Africa:
Definition: The overall name of the development of European cities joining Africa. It was just a big scramble because Africa was all over the place. It began in 1880 and ended in 1914. It was just a scramble.

Indian Rebellion, 1857-1858:
Definition: Indian rebellions against the British. These Indian rebellions started in 1857 and ended in 1858 which means it lasted a year. (Not very long) Also known as the Indian Mutiny.

Congo Free State/Leopold II:
Definition: Leopold II reigned in the years of 1885 to 1909. Also known as Leopold II the King of Belgium. He was the ruler of the Congo Free state. During the second wave of colonization many people died.

Cultivation System:
Definition: Force labor of slaves to work in an agricultural production. This occurred in the 19th century. Poor peasants had to cultivate land to produce crops. Everyone was required there were no exceptions. This would create money to sell crops.

Cash-Crop Agriculture:
Definition: Agricultural and crop production. Which would make a lot of money due to it's large production market. That's why it was called cash-crop production because the cultivation and crops would create money.

Western-Education:
Definition: Those who got colonized by the West such as Africa and Asia were benefited educationally because they were taught the history of the West and how to read. Would set up schools to learn therefore creating Western education. There were also educated elites that allowed the empires to benefit from someone being educated to have a better government.

Africanization Of Christianity:
Definition: Christianity came to Africa and some converted to it. Making them adapt the religion of Christianity. Incorporating Christian ideas to their everyday life and customs that were usually not religious.

Swami Vivekananda:
Definition: He was a religious leader of India. Born in 1832 and died in 1902. Swami was a Hindu munk in the 19th century. He was a teacher of the Vedanta beliefs. Most known for being a spiritual leader for India.

European Racism:
Definition: European racism was racism with science and technology. People believed that people such as Africans were different and different races were compared and criticized.

Edward Blyden:
Definition: An African man who was a scholar and proposed that each and every civilization was made to contribute to the world. There should be no racism because everyone took place in the world in some way or another. Each race is specifically made to contribute even the African race. Not because they are different mean that they can't be part of it. He was born in 1832 and died in 1912. A significant African American figure.

Colonial Tribalism:
Definition: African colonies had a way to mark their territory and to stand out from other tribes. They wanted to be distinct. Was believed that the tribal Africa was the most important and were the first of existence.
