A religion based on Christianity. This religion flourished in the Eastern part of the Roman empire not in the Byzantine empire. Eastern Orthodox Christianity was very popular in the western part of Europe as well. Eastern Orthodoxy was very similar to the practices and beliefs that the Christian church practiced.

Prince Vladimir of Kiev was a good influence of the spread of Eastern Orthodoxy that occurred in Kievan Rus. He united the city of Kievan Rus together with the Eastern Orthodoxy and that became the influenced and practiced religion.

The Roman Catholic church was another branch of Christianity. Although they viewed differently than them. This church classified themselves as separate than the Eastern Orthodox Christianity and regular Christianity. They had a pope as a head leader of the church and higher than everyone else.

Western Europe was a big threat to the Roman empire. Long after the Western part of the Roman empire fell down then multiple cities battled each other until someone finally one and took over the Western part of Europe. They were Germanic people.

3 different waves of crusades were lead and based on the pope who had a big influence on the people that was in the city since they had more authority and right than high class officials did back then in Western Christendom. They fought to get their land back but didn't succeed.

Started out as small towns but had a great influence on trading routes and networks that had a connection with Europe. These European cities were independent. Small cities and states that influenced and supposed military and armies. This system influenced economic rivalry and competitions.

In the eleventh century CE, Aristotle began to work on his Greek work. Soon after his work became known in the West part of Europe. People were beginning to appreciate Aristotle and Greek learning occurred in Western Christendom.
