CHAPTER 18: REVOLUTIONS OF INDUSTRIALIZATION
Steam Engine:
Definition: One of the inventions of the Industrial revolution. The most useful piece of technology that people used to produce products. Lead to a new invention the railroad. Basically the start of new technologies and inventions.

Indian Cotton Textiles:
Definition: Produced in India. These cotton textiles were easily produced in India. Until Britain tried to make the same type of textiles but couldn't catch up to the production. These textiles could only be done in India.

British Royal Society:
Definition: This was a British society that provided knowledge. Full of British Philosophers.

Middle-Class Values:
Definition: There were three major classes. The lower, middle and high classes. This divided the people in the society. The middle class had to work. There middle class people were mainly artisans, workers and merchants. They would do hard work but still had morals.

Lower Middle Class:
Definition: This was the lower class and basically just slaves. Twenty percent of Britain's population were slaves.

Karl Marx:
Definition: German philosopher who had the theory of communism. He thought that everyone should be part and own the place that they work in. Everyone is equal and things are for each and everyone.

Labour Party:
Definition: A political party that was established in 1890. It was a working group that wanted to convert people into socialism.

Proletariat:
Definition: It was actually a word that was common when you though of the middle working class. Karl Marx was against proletariat because everyone should be wealthy instead of some being rich and others poor.

Socialism in the United States:
Definition: A political movement that was started in the United States. Close to proletariat. That's why on the picture to the left it includes the proletariat symbol in a flag that pertains to the united states. A minor movement that motivates people to work.

Progressives:
Definition: A political party that protested for people rights during the industrial revolution which consisted of better work place and less working hours. They wanted to make places better by trying to make things more sanitized. Wanted to progress and move forward.

Russian Revolution of 1905:
Definition: A spread of uprisings and social problems in the Russian empire. A small protest became a big revolution in Russia. It was lead by Father Gapon. He was a Russian priest and with a small argument came a revolution. After the Russian Revolution came the Russo-Japanese wars.

Caudillos:
Definition: Military men who changed the government. In Spanish it means a military or political leader. This term was mainly used by Latin America. And probably lead to the Latin American export boom.

Latin American Export Boom:
Definition: A production boom/increase that occurred in Latin America in late 19th century. There was a massive production increase in raw materials, and with these product booms benefited Latin America's economy. High and middle classes benefited immensely as well as the country.

Mexican Revolution:
Definition: An uprising against the dictator. It consisted of mainly middle class people arguing and protesting that they wanted to overthrow the dictator. This rebellion/revolution lasted ten years from 1910 to 1920. With this revolution came equality and more land for the workers in Mexico.

Dependent Development:
Definition: This is the way that someone could develop by themselves. Such as Latin America's product boom. It was developed dependently and gathered a large portion of wealth.
